Matthew 28:19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”

In Jesus’ commissioning of His disciples, He commanded them to baptize believers in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. When we examine the birth of the church in Acts 2, we see that baptism was an important first step of obedience when new converts put their faith in Christ.

At Calvary Chapel Connection we believe that baptism represents three important things:

  • Obedience to Christ (Matthew 28:19-20, Acts 2:38, 41)

  • Identification with Christ (Matthew 3:13)

  • Association with Christ’s death, burial & resurrection (Romans 6:4)

When should a believer be baptized? It is our conviction that all such questions be answered Biblically. For us that answer is found in Acts 8:36-37 “Now as they went down the road, they came to some water. And the eunuch said, “See, here is water. What hinders me from being baptized?” Then Philip said, “If you believe with all your heart, you may.” And he answered and said, “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.” If you believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and have not yet been water baptized, now is the time.
